Moon and TMB 105/6.2

Posted By Junn Chavez

Hi to all TMB folks,

I am a very lucky and recent proud owner of a TMB 105/6.2 scope, serial#39.

I want to share this afocal image photo of the moon I took last night (04 May 2006). I used a Nikon Coolpix 995 digital camera and TV 8-24 Zoom Dioptrx Ready eyepiece. Be aware that the photo was "tweaked" in Adobe Photoshop.

I am still learning this new hobby, any suggestion will be appreciated.

Infrared Digital Camera

Posted By Junn Chavez

Hello to all,

I saw an ad about a Canon EOS 20D digital camera, the ad states:

"It has been modified/converted to an infrared (IR) digital camera by a professional. The hot mirror (IR blocking filter) inside this camera was removed and replaced by an IR filter (with 700nm Cut-Off at 50% transmission rate). It has been re-calibrated to ensure the autofocus system works properly after conversion."

Can this modified camera be used for astrophotography?

Thanks in advance and clear skies,

AStro-Physics waiting list

Luke,

Just to give you an idea about the waiting period, I have been on AP's list since May 2001. And since November 2001 for the AP400GTO.

Understanding Polar Alignment

Simply the best tutorial or topic I've ever read about drift polar alignment. In fact I'll try what I just learned tonight.

Thanks Peter!

New Camera

Hi John,

Just remember that a little tweaking in Photoshop will transform your first good photo into a "great" one. I edited your photo to show what I mean. I prefer black and white for the moon.

I am also starting to learn lunar photography.
