1. No. It was totally unacceptable and I haven't watched Bill Maher in years.
2. I don't think he has the same amount of influence as Rush.
3. Democrats don't generally claim to have higher standards of personal morality in the political sphere.
4. I'm sure everyone who is a parent or has had a parent has heard phrases like -
- Just because everyone else does it doesn't mean you should do it.
- Two wrongs don't make a right.
- We raised you better than that.
5. It doesn't matter what comedians or rappers say about women. They don't represent the cause of conservatism.

That's a bit of a stretch. Lots of people don't want to round up all Muslims, keep them in concentration camps, and send them to the Middle East or other far off lands. That would be regarded as an "ugly direction." Even GWB would probably side with that sentiment. The president has expressed a very mainstream Christian sentiment. Of course, once New York, D.C., Chicago, or LA have been obliterated by Muslim radicals with a nuclear device, people might change their minds.

That ain't right. :S I'm pretty racist, but it isn't fair to use that kind of attack on Obama. Obama does not act in stereotypical ways and is worthy of respect as a family man and a person of good moral character....even if you don't agree with him.

You should reserve that kind of attack for use against pimp daddy Gingrich. wink

I don't have anything against a degree of government sponsorship for the arts. It was good to be able to see symphonies and visit museums as a kid. But, blue trees are ridiculous. A panel of citizens who are not artists should have the power to stop stupid projects in most jurisdictions. I also think that when we build monuments, we should build them in different places around the country. For example, the St. Louis Arch has more impact because it is synonymous with that city.
