A month for my peeps

Posted By Lee Spain

February is black history month.
May is Asian Pacific American month.
September is Hispanic American Heritage month.

In the interest of inclusion, I think we need to point out that some people seem to be excluded from having a month. If we're gonna celebrate diversity, should all peoples be provided a month. wink

28 minutes to kick off . . .

Posted By Lee Spain

Did our coaches teach that fellow to kick?
Will we get crushed or surprise the pundits?
Will Domino's get here before game time?

The suspense is killing me . . . 8)

A Gator moment of gloat!

Posted By Lee Spain

Woohooo! grin Go Gators! 8) I had my doubts about Urban Meyer and Chris Leak. 8O Many of the SEC games this season have been truly nerve-wracking. But, the Gators won the big game convincingly. Chris Hetland even kicked two field goals. grin National championships in Football and Basketball. Unbelievable! grin

(Ahem...the moment has passed. All better now. That was good! wink )

Time to worry about next year. We've got a big target painted on us now. The rest of the conference faired pretty well in bowl games. LSU is awesome. Alabama has another new coach. Spurrier is getting the Gamecocks accustomed to winning. Georgia is playing with vengeance after being humiliated by Vanderbilt this year. Auburn beat us this year. How good will they be next year? We won't be portrayed as an underdog again for awhile. Is our cross-state rival, FSU getting their coaching house in order? When is that dude going to retire? They should make a movie, "Driving Coach Bowden!" Aaaah, where's the Maalox... ? :S

Joe Biden's South Carolina Visit

Posted By Lee Spain

What did Joe Biden really hope to accomplish by calling for the removal of the Confederate flag from a Confederate soldiers memorial on the grounds of the South Carolina capitol? I'm no flagit, but South Carolina has been through enough on this issue without some presidential candidate from New Jersey putting in his two cents worth. This is the Democratic equivalent of putting the 10 Commandments in City Hall just to stir up a little controversy and a little press attention. Do you think this move will win him South Carolina?

Uh-oh Dale Sr. never raced on ice . . .

Posted By Lee Spain

We're supposed to get freezing rain down here in Atlanta tommorrow. They are giving really bad instructions about driving on ice on the TV weather and they are also warning people about generators in the house. Ooooh, WinterWeatherWatch 2007! It's almost like a D.C. Milk Panic! grin This is gonna be interesting. wink

Michael Vick must go!

Posted By Lee Spain

Yesterday, he got caught at the airport with a bottle of fluid that was too big. It was too big because it contained a smuggling compartment that contained what appeared to be pot or pot residue.

Coming on the heels of a lackluster season, an obscene gesture to the fans, and his visit to the public health facility under his disguise as Ron Mexico, it really is time for Falcon's owner Bernie Marcus to let him go. The content of his character pretty much stinks. Michael Vick has become a metaphor for everything that is wrong in professional athletics, everything that is wrong with the city of Atlanta, everything that is wrong in African-American society today, and much of what is going wrong in American society.

Like it or not, quarterbacks are role models. Somewhere a little kid is going to be saying "I'm Michael Vick" and his friends are going to bust him thinking it's time to play cops and robbers. The kids of Atlanta deserve a much better role model than Michael Vick.

Fragments of a future bad day?

Posted By Lee Spain

Hmmm....maybe I've been watching too much '24,' but. . .

Iran established an embassy in Managua, Nicaragua, this month. 8O

Rumor on the Radio: Venezuala's Chavez is training Middle Eastern men to pass themselves off as Mexican and then provides them with transport to Mexico. 8O

Various news outlets speculate that the new Congress is not likely to support the construction of the border fence. :S

Does anyone see a bad day ahead? :S

It all starts with a diplomatic bag from Iran . . .

Puppy Killin' Maggots

Posted By Lee Spain

Let the official record reflect that the terrorists at work in Iraq are puppy killing maggots:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/01/26/iraq.main/index.html

If it isn't enough to oppose the Iraqi terrorists for beheading American civilians, and it isn't enough to oppose them for deliberately targeting Universities, and it isn't enough to oppose them for violating the laws of war by disguising themselves in the uniforms of American or Iraqi troops to infiltrate military targets, and it isn't enough to oppose them for attacking religious shrines, and it isn't enough to oppose them for attacking crowded marketplaces, then I'm sure isn't enough to oppose them for hiding a bomb in a crate of pigeons at an open air pet market and killing people and puppies either. :S

However, we should note that withrawal will probably mean giving Iraq over the governance of barbaric puppy bombers. sad

While we were fighting amongst ourselves . . .

. . . the enemy attacked an elementary school and tried to seize the main Shia shrine. I wonder what their government will look like?
