I happen to notice this pic is featured on the Anacortes web site http://www.buytelescopes.com/gallery/gallery.asp?c=850 very well done. I also live on the east side of Mt. Hood, where exactly did you take this from? Do you belong to any club around here? (Rose city?)

Time for Another Dumb Question.....

It sounds to me that you are in the same place I was when I started. Just figuring out where these eye candy's are to begin with can be a challenge. I used (use) a program, Starry Night, to locate these items. You can even print out a star chart with the Telrad circles and different bino views incorporated into the chart. There are even some charts out there that have Telrad circles on them already, don’t know who makes them, I’m sure someone here does. It’s a good way to learn the constellations. Once you know where the constellations are, it’ll make it easier to know what part of the sky certain objects are. Star parties are a great venue to learn as well. I just came back from the Oregon Star Party and learned a lot. Join a club as previously mentioned is also a great help. I find that getting others involved like kids, neighbors, or work mates to get a peak at something in your scope and get a “oh wow” is a real treat. I use Cassiopeia to find the Andromeda galaxy (M31), on a clear dark sky, you can almost see it with a naked eye. In my polluted Portland sky, I can pick it up with my 10 x 50 binoculars. Good luck and clear skies, Dave

Green Laser Pointers

I have hit the clouds at my light polluted house here in Portland. It's a class IIIb. Rated 10 mW. I paid 168.00 including shipping. Did not come with box. You are definitely hitting the stars with it (optical illusion). I bought mine from here, but don't think he’s selling anymore. It’s a Mercury7. Scott is good to deal with, even though he is not a company, I'd highly recommend if he’s selling them again. Z-bolt is here in Portland and seems to be a reputable company. Have fun.

Fraud

I would find a cheap vaction package to China. I thought I was scammed by someone here in the US. A local call to the police in the town this person lived in, got results. This person in China might be know to the local police there as well. It might be worth a try. I would like to know what measures are being taken with this China scam. Sorry to hear about your loss, keep us posted.

I have one of these on order, and I'm curious as to what tweaking you've done, and what the adapter is. Thanks

Orion ED80 max power?

I would like to know what equipment you're comparing this scope to. I would also like to know what other equipment is available compared to this one. If there is another 400.00 apo out there, I would like to know about it. I'm not trying to start a flame war, but this will be my first refractor, and I understand that this is no Tak or AP. But for 1/5 the cost, I'm willing to take the chance. My first choice was the Tak Sky90. I just don't have 2k to spend. Thanks
