How do I align the AAM to start finding objects.

Assuming you are referring to a Celestron Advanced Astro Master DSC, the instruction manual can be had here:

C8 Remounting

I have an older fork mounted C8. I would like to purchase a Losmandy equatorial or similar setup. Can I change my C8 mount scope to an equatorial mount or do I have to get another scope?
Lee

Lee,

I remounted my C8 Powerstar many years ago. I did the same with an Ultima C11.

There are C8 D-plates, Model DC8, available from Losmandy that will match the saddle on their GEQ mounts. These mount to the bottom of the OTA (and top of the OTA should you desire to piggy back a guide scope and/or camera). The OTA already has threaded holes in the proper locations on both sides of the OTA.

If you go this route just be careful to verify you receive the correct mounting hardware, i.e. the proper diameter, thread pitch, and most importantly the length of the mounting screws. There have been a few sad stories where the screws were too long and impacted the optics.

To de-fork the C8 you remove the fork arms from the drive base first, then remove each arm from the OTA. When you examine the top and bottom of the OTA you will find screws plugging the threaded holes where the Losmandy DC8 attaches. You remove these screws and use the Losmandy supplied hardware to mount the DC8. Again, VERIFY that the length of the mounting hardware isn't too long!

Search Auctions?

How does one search/browse Auctions that have ended?

1. I don't see how one can search the Auctions that have ended
2. Signatures that have colors embedded are not presented in color (I see the color encoding as text), however, if I open my signature in the Account Settings UI it displays correctly when I open my signature to edit it.

(I am using an iPad if that matters....)

Vladimir,

I guess I got lucky on the color issue...that must have started working when I re-associated my avatar to my profile.
On the search issue, I now realize that my iOS bowsers are no longer showing the selections on the left and right of the screen. For example, here is a screenshot from the Auction view:

Now I recall making an observation/recommendation awhile back regarding the fact that having those menu items on both sides of the screen in all views made it very hard to see the ads with all the columns I prefer to include (you had to scroll side-to-side, or open the ad in order to see all the detail. Exiting the ad placed you back at the beginning of the list.)

So maybe one fix for mobile devices created the issue I am seeing now...which seems to be there are no longer any views on my iPad iOS Safari or Chrome browsers that show the Astromart menu selections to the left and right of any screen as shown in your two links.

I have clicked on those arrows. I tried clicking on them again in both Safari and Chrome. They appear to be non-functional on an iPad running iOS 9.3.4 but work on an iPad running iOS 11.3.

Where to buy used equipment

Posted By Gary Carter

Astromart provides a level of service that is unparalleled in the used equipment market. 99% of my used gear came from here. If you buy "used" from any other source you are taking a much greater risk with your discretionary funds. Do your homework!

That stated, the other places I have occasionally purchased used gear from include eBay, astrobuysell, and craigslist.
