Need Information on ParacorrPosted By Rex Cox |
I use a Paracorr in an f4.5 18" Obsession. I wouldn't call it mandatory in that particular telescope, but if you enjoy taking in the entire field of view when looking through wide field eyepieces, it will certainly give you a more pleasing viewing experience. I used my telescope for several years without a Paracorr, but once I tried it, I no longer want to observe without one. Also, the Paracorr adds a barlowing effect, something like 1.3-1.5X I believe.
With the ultra fast mirrors that are so popular in big dobs these days, I don't see how anyone would want to try getting along without a Paracorr.

What will happen to Kodak?Posted By Rex Cox |
Lee Spain said:
Kodak declared bankruptcy earlier this week. This leaves lots of questions to speculate on:
What will happen to them?
What will happen to film photography?
Will their cameras get cheap?
Will they still make cameras?
Will they still make film?

A question I have is, how will this affect CCD imaging? Kodak makes CCD chips for some popular cameras, such as the SBIG ST-8300 series cameras that use the Kodak KAF-8300 chip. I'm looking at possibly getting one of these cameras, and I'm wondering if I need to get one 'while the getting is good', or can I wait?

Great image Steve, and awesome contrast! I can't wait to get into imaging myself. I've got my C11 up for sale, and as soon as I sell it, I'm finally getting a CCD camera. Sure wish you gave lessons!

Roland, are those stock mounts, or are they modified in any way to operate in those brutal conditions?
