2x and 3x Barlow

Posted By James DellaPenna

Todd,

There's no way you could test a 9mm EP (normally 133x in your scope) and not see the difference between 267x and 399x! You must have a 2x improperly labled as a 3x. What brand is it?

SCT and Feathertouch Focuser?

Posted By James DellaPenna

Jeff,

I don't know what brand of SCT you have. If it is a Celestron forkmount you not only have room for the Feathertouch, you even have room for the long WO Crayford Focuser plus the WO 2" diagonal.

FedEx International Fees

Posted By James DellaPenna

The only downside to USPS International shipping is that if you do have to file an insurance claim the USPS policy does not cover the entire amount of the item. They feel once it is out of their (USA) hands they can not be held fully responsible.

Denk 1.25" 2X multiplier

Posted By James DellaPenna

Brian,

Part S screws onto the nose piece. The 2x Multiplier screws onto the filter side of your diagonal. If you have a 2" diagonal you also require Part T adapter. For higher power, remove Part S from the nose piece. I am not certain what the power factors are. I think it is 1.4 using Part S and 2.8 without but I am not positive.

N11 GPS question.

Posted By James DellaPenna

Dannon,

I believe the N11 comes with a 1.25" back like most scopes. This 1.25" back has a 2" thread on the front end. Just unscrew the 1.25" back and thread on a 2" visual back if you have one.

Need Opinions on a possible trade.

Posted By James DellaPenna

Joe,

I think in terms of value it is a fair trade. The rest is up to you. I have owned a 9.25 (my first SCT) and since moved up to the Nexstar 11. The 9.25 will blow away the TV-101 in light gathering power and resolution. It will also introduce you to collimation issues, long cool-down times, and tie you to seeing conditions to an extent you never had to with the APO. Everything is a trade-off. Having said that, when you hit good seeing conditions, have proper collimation, and a well cooled scope you will be extremely pleased with the views. You will not experience the sharpness you are accustomed to but much more detail will be evident.

I had the old standard CG-5 mount for the 9.25 and suspect the new CG-5 GT is about the same. The 9.25 is at the top limit of what the CG-5 should be carrying.

2" Diagonal Question for C8 OTA

Posted By James DellaPenna

Tom,

All you need is what is called a 2" Visual Back which replaces your present 1.25" visual back. I use the Astro Physics brand because it has the brass compression ring instead of just tightening screws. It is about $45. or $50. new. Do not worry about a 2" diagonal extending into your SCT. It will never get that close with a 2" visual back because the body is quite deep.

P.S. I see somebody else was posting pretty much the same answer while I was typing mine.
