Pentax Discontinued!!

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Now that Pentax has dicontinued their $300+ eyepieces what's a comparable upgrade. I've got the $99 Meade value pack assortment and I'd like to wear my glasses when I observe. Any suggestions?

Sodium light polution

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Here near Phoenix we have considerable light polution. The local club has Lumicron UHC and that cuts sodium but also cuts visible light significantly. When I hold it up with the naked eye I can just make out Procyon. Although my memory may be failing, I thought I had an almost clear filter with the 8" Meade I had several years ago. Any suggestions to cut the sodium without cutting the rest?

Meade 16" LX200 GPS

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

I'd be interested in any first hand evaluations of the scope and the mount. I'm considering buying one if we move to southern Arizona from Phoenix.
Possibly you have other recommendations on a large non-portable scope. I already have a 10" LX200 GPS for moving around with and want to set up a permanent pier with a small dome. smile

Electronic Eyepiece Meade or Orion

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Has anyone had any experience remoting the eyepiece with a long length (about 100') of RCA cable? I was thinkiing about using it on the finder scope rather than search all over with the main CCD. :S

Piggy Backing on a 10" LX200 GPS

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

After some discussion about the CC&R's at my new home I've decided to Robo-Dome the 10" LX200 GPS. They didn't much care for a Galactica 360 in the backyard (What spoil sports!).

I want to keep the 416XTE CCD on the 10" and run the entire site from the den in the house, but need to PiggyBack the Meade with a small refractor equipped with a electronic eyepiece. That way I can see what I'm shooting and also use it for a guide if necessary.

Anybody got an idea for a short tube OTA that I could use that wouldn't break the bank. How about mounting rings?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Robo Dome experience

Posted By Darrell Fichtl

Who has had experience with Robo Dome? I'd be interested in any comments. I'm considering buying one in the near future when the house is built and would appreciate any feedback.

Bush & Cheney

When asked today (7/7) how Edwards stacks up against Vice President Dick Cheney, President Bush said, "Dick Cheney can be president."

Well, that's partially true. Dick Cheney IS president! cwy

Brutus was one of the best. He passed away last December of cardiomyopthy. From what I understand, this is very common in Dobermans and he lived longer than most. He lived eleven years and that's pretty good for a 115 lb. Doby.

I'm absolutely sure that when the end of the world arrives that we'll have the critics who say, in the last few hours, "We should have seen this coming and prepared for it. What happened to our national security?"

Neither Clinton, Bush or anybody else had a time machine. If you want to gaze into the future consult Alley Oop. He goes back and forth all the time in time.

My God, 8O I just found the real answer; how come Alley Oop didn't warn us!
