The professor sat down.
The student was Albert Einstein.

Albert Einstein did write a book titled God vs. Science in 1921.

'For we walk by faith, not by sight.' 2 Corinthians 5:7

The current push by the Creationists/Fundamentalists to recruit Einstein to their cause is just silly. Much as was their earlier insistence that Darwin HAD A DEATHBED CONVERSION. :-)

The fact is that Einstein was religious in a way, believing that the beauty of the universe manifest in his equations reflected some underlying "principle," but DID NOT BELIEVE IN A PERSONAL GOD that will answer one's prayers. Nor did he believe in anything like an afterlife. Once when asked whether he believed in an afterlife, Einstein replied, "No, and one life is quite enough for me."

The facts about Einstein are readily available in any library, if not necessarily on the Interwebs. LOL

That's a shame, as those are really the folks who _should_ be there.

Or at least like to get 'em?

I'm talking about Twitter, of course. I am now issuing the occasional Tweet (short message available both on the twitter.com website and on your mobile devices if you choose) concerning/in support of my blog and other astronomical subjects.

If you're interested, go to twitter.com and follow rmollise

I guess Obama was right during the debates when he said said that his greatest foreign policy experience was going to grade school for a couple years overseas. It looks like his whole administration is demonstrating repeatedly how bad they really are.

I HOPE you forgot to add the ":-)"...otherwise, calm down, turn off Rush and CNN and take a deep breath...LOL

Re: My LX200GPS will not power up correctly

My LX200GPS will now power up correctly. When I connect the AutoStar hand controller then power up the scope, one of 2 things will happen: the top row on the AS display turns to white boxes, almost like a progress bar) from left to right. When the line is full, everything just stops. The other thing that sometimes happens is the display just stays blank. The scope never moves. None of the buttons on the hand controller do anything.
Then at other times it just works like new.

With an intermittent problem, the first thing to do is to check all cables and connections.

Has any one discovered a way of converting the C5+ Celestron to a GPS Telescope? Getting to old for Setting Circles. I have looked at the OPTI tripods they cost more than the scope.

Given enough time, money, and talent, anything is possible. That said, this would not be an at all easy task.

Best bet? Remove C5 OTA from fork and put it on a CG5. Or just look at a new NS 5SE...they are quite cheap.

The Edge

Posted By Rod Mollise

In case you haven't heard yet, Celestron has announced a new line of SCTs at Riverside, the Edge HD:

Flattener in the baffle tube.

Cooling vents in the tube.

Mirror lock.

White tube.

8, 9.25, 11, 14-inches.

Somewhat more expensive.
That's all I've been told thus far...
