Programming the SMART DRIVE!

Posted By andy campbell

I have spent a few hours now trying to program me PEC by eyeball with an illuminated reticle. It's not that easy! Through someone elses suggestion I am trying out this program called PEMPro.It's a free 60 day trial. If it works this may be the best $ spent on astro imaging! Has anyone used this? what were your results? Do you have any tips for us rookies?
Here's a link to the download.Check out the Pempro quick tour. And check out the user forum if you have ?'s. Ray Gralak is extremely helpful! http://www.ccdware.com/products/pempro/index.cfm

F.1 Reflector?

Posted By andy campbell

An F.1 Reflector?? I have a 14" spherical F.1 polished blank. Looks like a meniscus lens for a mak. or something like that. I was wondering if there was a way to make something like this work as an imaging system?

Re: Fire Hazard From Plastic Domes?

Posted By andy campbell

I think if fire is close enough to melt your plastic dome it won't matter what material your observatory roof is made of metal or wood your observatory will be destroyed. What's nice about these new plastic domes is you will be able to replace it four or five times before you equal the cost of the metal ones!
