Having trouble posting a pix.

Posted By Lynden Williams

I have tried several times to post a wild life pix. I have gone through the process until it gets to the question Equipment Used, then I have tried everything imaginable and it comes back saying I have not given them the equipment that I used.

It is a simple pix. It was taken with a Nikon D40X and a 200mm nikon tele. Nothing more, nothing less.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do.

Thanks,

Lindy Williams

Obama is doing ......

He never said we could avert oil dependence by inflating our tires...only a moron would try and say that he did. What he did say was that one way to lesson our oil usage is to inflate our tires by a couple of pounds. And being an engineer, I can tell you that it is an irrefutable fact that you can increase gas milage by a mile or two to the gallon by increasing the tire preasure a couple of pounds. Your car will run a bit rougher but it will be more efficient.

You really make yourself look stupid when you make these kinds of statements. But the fact that you are trying to detract from what decent people who care about reducing our dependence on foreign oil are trying to accomplish simply points out what kind of a person you really are.

Most people realize that tire preasure is a range and not a specific value. That range usually is plus or minus a couple of pounds. I doubt anyone ever thought that we could resolve our energy problems by this proposal. The point that the president was trying to make, which went right over the top of many heads, was that something as simple as proper inflation of tires and a regular tune-up would save about the same amount of energy as could be produced by tapping into one more of our unscathed natural wilderness areas. I think that the people who look at these comments and take them as literal solutions are the kind of people that scare me, and unfortunately there are a lot of people who get lost in the minutia. Pardon the spelling, the spell checker is not working.

I'm the one who used the term moron, but I don't believe I called you one. But since we are going that road, so be it. Your comment about Obama saying we would save 3 to 4 percent of our fuel usage with good tire preasure and a tune-up is exacly on target. Because the amount of oil that we could expect to bring in from the north slope of Alaska was on the order of 2 to 3 percent of what we currently use. Amazing how that works, isn't it. But I'm sure you will find some way to twist this around and make it reflect your point of view that all concervationists are idiots. You may not believe in global warming, but it's important to note that we probably would not have had a 9/11 if we were not over there trying to suck out as much of that middle eastern oil as we can, not to mention the fact that we are still dancing to the tune of the OPEC players. Lots of strange instruments in that band.

I actually got out the spec sheet on the tires on my car and low and behold it had a recommended pressure and a not to exceed pressure there was a two pound difference between them. These are not cheap tires either...and I may be crazy but it's there in black and white. The difference in the recommended pressure and maximum was 2 pounds. But of coarse you know best...all you want to do is rag on Obama so you just go for it. He's our president now, thank God. I could write about a dozen pages of what I feel this country suffered from the pathetic excuse we had for the past eight years but I will not sport with you as it would be a total waste of my time. As for tapping into our own oil, I totally disagree and Mr. Pickens does as well. I think the quote goes "we can't drill our way out of this one" and he's an "oil" man...but your not going to buy that either. I'm not nearly as concerned about the mess of the drilling as I am about our continued greenhouse gas emissions. Once again I am wasting my time. I actually do agree with you about it being more dangerous shipping the oil than piping it in. I just think it makes more sense to find an alternative fuel. You know, one that would not cause a melt down of the planet. I imagine it's probably too late already anyway, so you just enjoy yourself.

How about the last 8 years...

The economy

It happened when you gave additional tax brakes to the top 0.5 percent of the population who invested it in one economic bubble after the next ie...technology in the 90's which burst in about 99 and then you had the realestate bubble which burst last summer. Couple this with a total lack of regulation that gave us Burnie and a half dozen others that bilked people out of billions in ponzi schemes which could have been uncovered by a 4th grader. It really isn't hard to understand, except for those who's knuckles drag on the ground. But what is sad is that about 95% of the population lost economic ground in the past 8 years. Only the top half of one percent or so actually made out extreemly well. They made a killing. And as W said, "this is my base".

Perhaps your one of those and it looked good to you...but most of us got screwed. Expecially the folk on retired, fixed incomes.

Add to all this the fact that they changed the way they reported inflation numbers back in the beginning of 2001. They actually had the guts to add wages into the inflation calculations, and any fool knows that most of us didn't even keep up with real infation in these numbers.

Believe what ever fairytale you like, but for my money the fool in the whitehouse for the past eight years was a disaster.
