Just wondering if anybody has tried this? I have not measured the OD of the scopes but the tube holders seem to have a range.

I was in your exact situation. Had a 10" LX-200, wanted to know the difference between 15",16, & 18.

Went to a starparty saw m51 in a 15" obsession, very nice! But I wondered how much more I could see in the 16" and 18". A deal came up locally for a pre-owned 18" obsession at a GREAT price. I jumped on it! Next time I was out at a dark sight I brought the 18" My friend brought his new 16" Starmaster. Both were awesome but the 18" was better on the Deep sky stuff. If I were to do it again I would do the same thing. YMMV
