minolta maxxum 5d

i recently purchased a maxxum 5d dslr camera and want to mate it to my stellarvue 80mm refractor. anyone have any experience with this camera? what parts am I going to need to make this all work? How do you adjust the amount of zoom? do you mount it to the focuser or the diagnal? I'm new to this and appreciate any help you might be able to offer...................Thanks!

first attempt

I finally got all the pieces I needed and after several trys, this was the final result. I figured the moon was the best place to start before venturing out into dso's and the like. I took this on 09/03/06 with a minolta maxxum 5d dslr straight thru a stellarvue 80mm "classic" nighthawk. any feedback positive or negative would be welcome.........................................................clear skys!

Can someone explain the real differences between an f/15 and say an f/5 as far as differences in viewing and/or photographing thru a scope? I've heard some people talking about short or long focal length scopes but no one has really been able to explain the advantages/disadvantages for either one. Your responses would be greatly appreciated......................Thanks!

I'm kind of curious...........I've read a few articles regarding clamshell mounts vs scope rings. Is there a reason one might choose one over the other? Is one more stable than the other or offer more mounting options? Thanks in advance for your comments.

I've been looking to purchase a new diagonal for a APO refractor and have been leaning towards the Astro-Physics 2" star diagonal. Anyone have one and have any comments? Do they only make the one 2"-1.25" adapter for it? Thanks in advance..............................................Bob

About 4 mos ago I purchased a pair of Pentax 20X60 binocs. I'm very pleased with them although I've never seen many write ups on them. Anyone have any experience with them and know how they stack up to other offerings out there?

$40,00.00 is alot of money for ANY telescope, but it would take better photos than even a C-14, but at what cost? Alot of times when you're into that calibre of scope, it's the smallest amount of differences that can start adding thousands to the price. I could if I had the money! smile
