Zhumell 8" to 10" dobsionan ?

Posted By James Powell

I need advice. I have just entered the astronomy hobby and do not wish to make the wrong decision when I purchase my telescope. I am looking at the Zhumell dobsionan telescopes. Telescopes.com has told me that the mirror is Pyrex glass in both the 8" and the 10". I was told that the wavefront accuracy is 1/4. Both telescopes have good 2" focusers and a decent finder scope. Also, you get the laser collimator as well. Does anyone know where the mirror is made? Is this a good telescope in either size and which one should I go for if I can afford either, not considering size and weight? How does Zhumell compare to the X-Class Dobsionan telescopes?

X-Class dobsionan telescopes?

Posted By James Powell

How does the X-Class telescope compare with the other brands such as Zhumell, Orion, etc. Are these telescopes made in Twain or China? I am considering the purchase of my first dobsionan telescope and need advice.

Thanks,

James

Orion Q70 32mm

Posted By James Powell

Could anyone please let me know how the Orion Q70 32mm eyepiece perofrms in fast scopes. I am using an 10" F5 dob.

I purchased an Eclipse 32mm 2" eyepiece from Agena but the performance was no better than the GSO 2" 30mm eyepiece that came with my telescope so I have returned it.

Has anyone used either the BK-7 or Pyrex mirrors from Anttlers?

worth going to!

Posted By James Powell

I pesently am using a 10" dob and have considered moving up to a 12" dob. However, where I live there are not any 12" dobs to compare my dob with.
Is is worth the expense to move up to a 12" dob?

Mirrors from Anttlers.

Has anyone used mirrors that are offered by Anttlers? They have the 12" BK-7 elliptical and parabolic that are reasonable.

C102-R compared to C4-R

There are a number of sites selling the C102-R and the C4-R.
What are if any differences?

Celestron omni xlt 102 vs 120

Posted By James Powell

I am seriously considering the Celestron omni XLT102. The 120 is $100 more. Will the difference make that much difference viewing faint objects. I have been a dob user from the start and have little experience with refractors. I would like to get used to an equatorial mount and have a smaller telescope for casual viewing and possibly some astrophotography.

Please advise.

Celestron OMNI XLT 120

Posted By James Powell

I just received my Celestron OMNI XLT 120. Is the declination circle supposed to move? I see a screw hole but it does not have a setscrew. I tried turning the circle but it does not move.
