...and he's off.......Just a Hello.

Posted By brad batchelor

Hello to all. I just recently stumbled onto this sight and decided to join in.

Well, I'm off on a new journey, really a dusted off revisit, but it seems pretty fresh as of today. You see, I've been visiting our skies on and off since the mid-70's when my parents bought me my first telescope. The scope is from the era of "all things Japanese" and was bought at a local catalogue sales outfit. Oh yes, I remember it well, actually I remember it like last night because I've been using this scope my whole life (including, last night). Go figure. It's a Jason 60mm x 800mm refractor on a rickety AZ1 type of mount. If nothing else this scope has taught me patience and a very light touch. But alas, I'm at a point in my life where I'm ready to move on and so it leads me here.

After much thought, I've finally picked my next scope. It's looking like a 6" or 8" Dob. Probably going to stick with a 6" due to weight and a 'tweenager who will hopefully develop an interest.

Anyway, just wanted to say hey. I've been lurking and enjoying the classifieds and forums. Coming out into the dark, so to speak.
