"Man on the moon"--Crater Birt

Posted By Matthew Trail

Hi, all
An interesting observation tonight, June 7th around 10 PM ET: Craters Birt and Birt A were right on the terminator, and looked exactly like the upper torso of a man in silhouette, as if a bright light were shining behind them. (Crater Birt A being the "head.") Observed with a C102F and 7mm ortho (129x) and Televue 2x barlow (258). Quite striking!

First Radian.

Posted By Matthew Trail

Hi, Floyd
My first radian was a 6mm too. It's really great for lunar observing at 150x on my C102f--sharp and contrasty, and the wider field and eye relief really make for that "porthole" experience. It did very well on Mars last year as well.
I also have a 5mm too, purchased recently. I've compared them to my 3-6 Nagler zoom and have seen very little difference. Sometimes I feel the zoom is *ever* so slightly "crisper" or more contrasty, but they are in general very, very close. And the Radians are definitely more comfortable.
Enjoy!
