Breaking out?

Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.

Wait a few days and it'll be clearer...personally, I'm no longer looking for short candidates.

Nikon D70 Digital SLR vs. Canon Rebel Digital SLR

Posted By Mark Liu

Dave,

Have been reading the D70 posts on dpreview.com? The D70 looks very promising for astrophotography:

Tak Teegul or DiscMount DC6 for TEC140

Posted By Mark Liu

Eddie, quick question - you do use counterweights on your Giro, right? I have used my TEC140 on a Giro and when I had it balanced well, the motions were pretty smooth. I live near you and look at planets most of the time, too. I also have the Lapides-mod Teegul and although it works great for a Sky90, there's no way I would put the TEC140 on it! I once saw something even worse...someone put a TOA130 on a Gibraltar smile

Nice, Evan. How's the build quality of the OTA compared to the FS and others in the Tak line?

Did'ya ever notice....

Yes, this focal length series will give you approximately half the field area as you progress towards the lower focal lengths. For example, the 18mm eyepiece will cover half as much sky as the 25mm eyepiece.

Now I'm not saying that this is what I'd want when observing but the makers seem to have followed this rationale when deciding on which focal lengths to produce.

Thomas Back Passes...

Julie, thanks for posting the photo. Thomas looked really young back then! And it's great to see him immersed in his passion - actually looking into the eyepiece....

going Public?

Astro-physics is a poor candidate for an ipo. A good candidate would be a company that values growth at all costs and is in a growth market. I've never gotten that impression from its owners' postings.

Although AP seems to have had to jump through hoops in order to obtain financing for their last expansion, I'm doubtful that the overhead of being a publically traded entity would be worthwhile to the owners. It can be a drag wink
