Takahashi FS128 History

Posted By David Perren

Hello to All,
I'm hoping someone could provide me some historical TAK info about my FS128J scope (4" Focuser) shown below. I'm pretty sure the FS128J uses the same system chart as the FC125 but I have not yet seen another FS128 or FS128J for that matter with TAK Green paint at the objective end of the tube (dew shield). Is there any significance to this other than it's just painted Green instead of Blue?
The serial number is "96123" which I gather was built in 1996, I'm not sure if it is the 123rd built of that year or the 23rd or ??
When where the FC125's discontinued and when were the FS128's started? Was the "J" the first FS128 model ever built?
I greatly appreciate any historical TAK info or references you may have.

Thanks!

Raymond,
Thank you for sharing your great photos. I hope someday I maybe able to take similar photos and share too. I am brand new to astrophotography and am learning from experienced people like you.
When I saw that you were using an EM200 mount with a webcam autoguider I thought I could learn even more.
I have an older TAK EM200b mount. The EM200b does not have an autoguider port but thought I could make a "Y" interface cable to make the hand controller port work as one and possibly use a webcam with Guidedog software too. Did you have to make modifications on your EM200 or does your EM200 have an autoguider port?
Thanks in Advance for any suggestions and tips you may have for making the webcam and Guidedog software work on your mount.
