Half Moon over Thunderstorm at Sunset

Posted By Alan Chaniewski

Here's a shot I took James, of the Cresent moon next to Venus from my house in south central Connecticut. I used a Nikon 600mm at 125th of a second. There's a flight path over our house for planes from NYC to Boston. This one is at about 25,000 feet. Clouds were coming in fast, and I managed to get only 2 frames off. Enjoy!

CSP or South Jersey Star Party?

Hi Philip,

Check out our web site for all the info on our CSP 16
at www.asnh.org. We have a nice line up of speakers, and plenty to do for the kids. Bring them! You can even check out what is on the menu, and register on-line.

Thanks, and hope to see you there,

Hi Bill,
I have been capturing live video for the past year or so with the Meade EE. It is great. I have captured everthing from spots to proms to planes. Yes, planes look real neat going across the disk of the sun. I capture the frames to a mini DV tape and use an video editing program to cull down what I want to save, sharpen the image and add color. It is a perfect teaching tool also if your having a solar education day.
I also use the frames to make still images. I have included one with this post. It is 600 frames stacked of sunspot 940. Enjoy! Alan C.
