Wavefront error of an average C8 OTA??

Posted By Francisco Rodriguez

Does anyone know what the wavefront error is of an average C8 OTA? I'm thinking of buying one if the expected wavefront error is better than 1/4 wave p.t.v. Thanks for your help.

Strehl or Wavefront error...which to consider?

Posted By Francisco Rodriguez

I'll soon be the owner of a mak-newt scope, and i'll be receiving a cert. of optical quality. The certificate specifies a wavefront error of 1/7.8 wave p-v @555 nm, while the strehl ratio of the system is 97.5%. According to the following: http://www.rfroyce.com/standards.htm
a 97.5% strehl ratio corresponds to a wavefront error considerably lower than 1/7.8 wave (more around 1/11 wave). So, is it possible that the stated wavefront in the certificate is inacurate, or misleading as to the real quality of the optics? Also, which standard should I place more weight on as a measure of optical quality for my scope, wavefront or strehl? Thanks.

Coupling an I-M MN56 onto a Celestron CG5A-GT moun

Posted By Francisco Rodriguez

Hello,

For the MN56 owners out there...I recently received my MN56, and was wondering what adapter plate I need to purchase to mount it to Celestron's CG5A-GT mount. Thanks.

Barlow for MN56...TeleVue 5x or 3x??

Posted By Francisco Rodriguez

I'm trying to decide which barlow to purchase. I'm sure the 3x will provide adequate magnification for the MN56's aperture, but i'm not sure if the 5x would be pushing it too much. Wouldn't the images be really dim for high-mag eyepieces? Can anyone shed some light, please?

Regarding William Optics FLT 110...

Posted By Francisco Rodriguez

I'm currently researching several 100-115 scopes. One of these is the W.O. FLT-110. I'm trying to find an APO refractor, preferably a triplet design, that's priced within my budget ($3000). I'm also trying to maximize color correction. The FLT-110 is a triplet design by TMB. However, I can't seem to find the specifications of the type of glass used in the objective. Does anyone know if the optics incorporate an FPL-51, 52, 53, or some other type of glass element?

Teleport no longer making dobs?

Posted By Francisco Rodriguez

I've sent them inquiries regarding their prices...haven't gotten a reply in days. Their website was last updated in 2004. Are they still makins scopes? Or is the company defunct??
