Re: LX200 8

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

Here's a picture of my Meade 7" Mak (same tube as the LX200 8") setup with a Scopestuff dovetail mounted to Bob's rings on a LXD55. Works well.
You can find the dovetail at "scopestuff.com".

Televue 85 - dovetail

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

Can anyone tell me what Televue dovetail would be used to mount a TV 85 with the standard tube ring to a LXD55 mount?

Any advice appreciated.

Poor man's Ronchi?

I wonder if this technique might be accurate enough to verify the "flatness" of a dob's diagonal or mirror diagonal?

TV102 Laser Image

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

Just thought I would shoot my laser collimater through the lens of my TV102. Looks like the outer lense is crown glass while the inner is SD glass. There is no light path visible throught the inner glass - could it be a flourite type glass element?

Thoughts?

Refractor Objective Lens Brush

My searches have left me saying "is that all there is?" in terms of good quality objective lens brushes.

A little thinking outside the box lead me to this...

Comments on suitability for removing dust from a TEC140 or similar size lense?

Re: cpc 9.25 vs. g9.25asgt

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

Hey Mark -

Some reasons to go for the GEM.(not cpc)

The S-GT version is $500 less than the CPC
The GEM won't put the eyepiece in a hard to use spot. Think of trying to see Vega or double double with the CPC.
The GEM will allow you to mount various different scopes - S-GT version will handle 4" refractors - no problem
If you want to do photography, you might want to consider the CGE version up front. Admittedly, much bigger and more expensive than the S-GT but it would make a fine photography platform and can easily handle 160mm refractors. Perfect for most future upgrades.

Hope this helps.
