Denk standard vs Denk II?Posted By peter krottje |
Hi Doug--
I recently got the Denk standards, and I like them a lot. However, I do get some distracting eyeball reflections when observing Saturn, using Denkmeier's SCT doubler cell and 25 mm Ultimas (also visible with a Vixen zoom when set to >16mm). I don't get these reflections using the binoviewer straight through, or using higher power eyepieces (e.g., Pentax 10.5, Vixen zoom @<16mm) with the doubler. It looks to me that the relections are from one of the prism surfaces, and Russ at Denkmeier suggested that the Denk II's would likely reduce this problem, since the prisms on the II are multicoated vs single MgF on the standards.
Despite this, I'm probably gonna stick with the standards on account of I don't have a lot of extra $500 bills lying around. You, on the other hand...
Cheers,
Peter
