orion apo refractor on lxd55 mount

has anyone used this combo? how do you get the orion scope on the lxd55 mount? has anyone done any wide field film astrophotography with mount or scope? I am thinking of just putting a camera on the mount and trying or piggybacking on the orion scope. also i have an 8in lx200 any experience with putting the orion apo piggyback? any experience with the lxd55 mount on the lx200 tripod. so many questions i know but help with any of these would be appreciated. thanks dan

st-7 camera lens adapter / GM-8

i would like to attach my st-7e directly to my gm-8 what is the best(and cheapest) way to do that? I see that there is a threaded hole on one side of the st-7 but i don't want to screw anything in there that could damage the ccd or electronics is there some protective mechanism that will stop from screwing something to deep?

once i am able to get it attached i would like to try wide field shots with my olympus lens. i know that you can buy the cla-7 forB&W shots (if anyone has had success with this please let me know any pictures would be appeciated) and you can get the mandel or brady adapter for color but i am looking for a cheaper alternative to see if i can get any results. I have an old end cap for one of the olympus lens that i am going to drill out a hole to attach lens
to ccd on one side and then i can screw the olympus lens to the other end has anyone tried this or have any thoughts? thanks dan

ccd (st-7e) vs DSLR (canon digital rebel)

okay what do guys think about a st-7 vs the new canon digital rebel? i would like to do imaging of nebulae and galaxies. i have seen what has been done with both on this site but if you had to chose one that was going to be used for astrophotography only and the price was the same which would you chose? please share advantages or disadvantages of each. thanks dan

gm-8 in pelican case

could some tell me the easiest and best way to make sure i get my foam plucked properly and get everything in the case without a problem. do you guys put the motors facing towards the top of the case or the bottom? do you outline on the part that you can't pluck first or do you just wing it? any help would be appreciated. also i have looked on the forums and saw on case with gm-8 head fitting nicely i just want a step by step process. thanks dan

Best way to piggyback 80ed on LX200

I have an orion 80ed that i want to piggyback on my 8in lx200. before i spend alot of money would like to get some opinions on the best way to piggyback. Is it best to buy 2 of the losmandy DM8 plates one for the top and one for the bottom where i can then use the losmandy counterweights for astrophotography? anyone used it like this or any thoughts on what would be the best way. thanks

mini borg?
