Unfortunately the old astromart website was running on windows 2008 R2 which is no longer being supported by Microsoft.  The old astromart was using "classic" ASP coding, and unfortunately there was no way of making changes efficiently so the old site had to be retired.

That is the main reason for the switch as outdated software and the inability to make updates.

We are here to help you. We have already fixed most issues that have been reported on the new website here.  Please continue to report issues and we will fix them immediately.  We want to improve your experience and all feedback posted here is highly valuable.

Cheap source of planispheres

Hi Andreas:

I did the same thing with cub scouts a few years back. We made planispheres from photocopied sheets downloaded from the web. It was almost free. The kids liked making their own quite a bit. Here's one site, I think there are several others.

Obviously this only works if you have a few nights, one to make planispheres and another to use them under the stars.

My wife and I have a little third-floor condo up in the mountains. The deck right below ours has a hummer feeder, which allowed me a different perspective on several of these beauties! A male Rufous vigorously defended the feeder from all others, but while he was chasing one intruder away, another would sneak in. The intruders were Broad-tails (I think), both male and female, plus a female Rufous. It was very entertaining, and very difficult to focus on these guys in flight! The male Rufous was relentless in the defense of his turf.

The first picture is my favorite, a female Broad tail looking us over, eye-to-eye!
