A friend of mine and I have had our observing locations taken away from us with the forest fires and subsequent forest closures all over Arizona. Our regular dark site is too hot this time of year so we are looking for a place to set up this coming friday and saturday night.

Any one want to loan a couple of bedouin astronomers a yard or field for a couple of evenings?

I use the dark cloth from my 4X5 camera. It is black on one side, white on the other and has little weights in the corners.

I had a friend try it and he claimed I added 2" to his 12" f7 scope he has been observing with for close to 40 years!!

The best ones come from Calumet Photographic and carry the Zone VI brand. Expect to pay $35-45 and have it last a lifetime.
