I’ve been told the low power I pieces play eyepieces, say 7mm or even 9mm will just result into much blur taking into account by scope (C925) and conditions.

I’d like to fill the gap between 21 and 31. What would you suggest? I’m OK with the cost of say a Tele Vue. I just don’t want to pick the wrong one or a redundant one

There really is no need to fill the gap between the 21mm E and the 31mm Nagler. Both have almost the same true fields and there's not much of a difference to fill in that gap IMO.

Bright eyepieces?

Broadband Battle Redux

Posted By Mark Gemmell

Hi Guys, I know this post is 5 years old....but I'd like to ad my two cents, tax included, lol.

I found that the Lumicon O-III filter ,(not the older one that oxidizes), had the biggest impact on DSO's from my light polluted yard, (still nowhere near as good from a darker site I go to about 30 min away from my backyard).

I tried it on The Helix Nebula, M-17, M-27, M-97, and more. Other filters had a lot less of an impact from my light polluted yard.

Filters work best in darker skies FYI.

I've tried broadband filters on galaxies from darker skies and the filterless view was always best. The ones I tried were the Orion Skyglow and the Baader UHC-S, (which is really a broadband filter).

Another thing to take into consideration is that even though you could have 5 of the exact same filters, all 5 could still work differently because of QC.

Great posts, Rod and Ed!

Cheers!
