LX-200 GMT OFFSET

Posted By Michael Dolceamore

I have an 8 inch LX-200 scope and I am spending hours on my alignment process. Whenever I enter my local time and enter my GMT offset the Siderail time does not reflect the proper offset. I will go back an forth between Polaris and Altair and make wedge adjustments when aligning on polaris. I can get dead nuts on the two stars within the cross hairs of my 9mm reticle eyepiece after about six or sever iterations, however, as soon as I goto another star or planet, I am not centered within the eyepiece. I beleive my problem may be with the offset time in the keypad. I believe that when I goto a subject after aligning on Altair and Polaris, the scope is looking for the subject in its location several hours away from where it should be.
I even tried entering the local time as the actual GMT time with 0 GMT offset and it seems that the keypad changes back somewhere in the process.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Mike

Meade 10 inch LX-200GPS and Lumicon Giant Guider

Posted By Michael Dolceamore

Has anyone out there used a Lumicon Giant guider in conjuction with a LX200 GPS Scope?
I am looking to be able to use the guider for my 35mm camera, my digital SLR camera and my Starlight Express MX5C camera.
I would like to use the ccd camera as an autoguider for the other two cameras mentioned and to my knowledge, I believe I can use the ccd camera through the giant guider as well.
Has any one out there every done this?????
This setup would be in lieu of a guide scope used for an auto guider application.
thanks,
Mike

LX-200 GMT OFFSET

Posted By Michael Dolceamore

Steve,
Yes, it is a classic. I think that I am OK. I guess I was a little confused because the example in the Meade manual shows an offset of 7 hours which was almost identical to the siderail time for that example. I will go back and enter the correct offset and take it from there.
Thank you,
Mike

Do you still need a photo?
I have a meade Super Wedge and can shot you a photo.
I was missing the tangent arm and got mine thru Meade for $15.00. The other part someone had on Astromart not long ago.
Let me know if you still need the photo and I will see if I can find the other peice.

My new roll-off...almost complete (roof closed)

Tom,
I have been looking to construct something similar to your photo. That looks great. Any chance that you could post a photo of the side where the rails penetrate the side wall of scope room?
Thanks and congrats on a great looking design.

My clear night home

Dan,
That looks great.
Do you have any detail showing the roof connection and how you made it weather tight?
I am about to draw up some plans and I have been laboring over that connection.
I have seen others that have gaping openings in them and I will not build something like that.
I have started to draft plans showing an 8 X 12 foot building with a 5 X 8 contol room and a 7 X 8 telescope area. The roof connection is my only snag at this time.
good luck.
Mike
