Nasty blue fringe, please help!

Posted By Lei Jiang

Could someone help me to explain why I got these ugly blue circle around mars? Collimation? Cool down? Bad seeing? Bad processing? Barlow? or something else.

C9.25 + ultima 2x + ToUCam, 900 images stack using registax.

Thanks,

lei

Thanks for the report!
It looks like the Orion has some undercorrections compare with other scopes.

Apogee SCT Crayford Focuser - How Good?

Posted By Lei Jiang

I have one and like it. It is virtually the same as William Optics' Crayford Focuser. About one inch focus travel. Use brass compression ring in both focuser and the 2"-1 1/4" adapter. Can rotate 360 degree by loosing one of the thumb screw, very convenient. Nice build quality.

My premium EP epiphany

I don't know about others. I do have to fight the blackouts or kidney beans when using the Type 6 Naglers, especially when trying to see the outer 30% of the FOV.

Meade UWA 14 or NAGLER 16 T5 ?

Posted By Lei Jiang

If weight or size is not a problem for you, I would go with 14mm UWA 4000, it is just much more comfortable than the 16mm T5. Eyerelief is at least 5mm more on the UWA.
