Celestron XLT 120 OTA length question

Posted By ethan vanmatre

Hi All, I picked up a celestron OMNI XLT 120 the other day and found that it would not focus my 2" eyepieces and that the focus for 1.25" EP was near the full extention of the focuser. I tend to not use a diagonal I should add bet I do expect that prim focus does fall somewhere in the usable range of the focuser.

Doing some rough measurements it appears that the OTA tube was cut short.... Can someone measure their their tube length and post it here? Measuring from the front of the objective cell to the ens of the main tube would be great.

I've been working with Celestron support who had me send the OTA in. It should be coming back to me soon. Then I will do some better measurements assuming that it is within the design specs. If it is within design specs I would consider this a design flaw.

The OTA is made by Synta and any of the 4.7" F/8.33 1000mm FL scopes from Meade, Orion etc.

Thanks!
