The MAGA's have found a voice in Kid Rock and I hope they enjoy their alternative halftime show. Cancel culture is alive and well with these asshats. I'm not too familiar with Bad Bunny, but do know he's a US citizen from Puerto Rico. Kid Rock has been a well known local asshole here since the 90's that I hate to say is from Detroit. I'm glad he moved to Nashville.
They seem not to be pursuing Ted Nugent the kiddie-diddler poster boy.  Unfortunately, he's from Redford.....

I watched the women's and men's gold medal games.  Of course I'm disappointed but it isn't the end of the world.

Overall I was not surprised the US women won - they have been a tad better than us for a couple of years now.  But sport will cycle with ups and downs and we could come back to the top.  What the US and Canadian women both must keep an eye  on are the Euro teams who are improving every year - it won't be long before the gold medal game will feature a Euro team.....

As for the men - your goalie stole it, plain and simple.  We out-played the US for the entire 2nd and 3rd periods out shot them by nearly double and missed two yawning empty nets - shoulda coulda woulda as we sometimes say.   Nice to see Kash Patel celebrating with the lads, though..... I'd like to see him on skates.

Thanks for this post.  Clouded out here plus totality and moonset were nearly simultaneous so a tough observation for us.

Had to laugh at the wall-eyed FBI director chugging beer with the lads in the dressing room like wanna be frat boy.  On the taxpayer's dime, of course.

Regime change was posited as a potential goal of this operation.

Did anyone think that the Theocrats would just step aside once the leader at the time was killed?

What was the plan?  Who were they going to install?  Someone vetted by both the US and Israel.  Who would fit that bill?

I think, in the long run, isolation of Iran is a good answer for the world but a terrible one for the people of Iran.  And a multi-national navy presence in the straits of Hormuz to get the ships through.

Noting that someone started two threads here, one on the 10th and one on the 12th.  So, if you will permit a new measurement unit, SIX "thread days" with a grand total of TWO views.

Gonna try out my new Seestar S30 Pro tonight if it stays clear...

Got a new (to me) car on Friday - 2022 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.   Quite an adjustment from my minivan getting 20-25mpg to the Hybrid getting 40 or better.  And the van trade-in paid for the Sonata and paid off my loan so I didn't have to fork out a penny..

Earlier today a big flock of about 50 Sandhill Cranes flew right over my house.  "KAROOO!  KAROO!"   They have rapidly extended their range eastward in the last 20 years or so and now are to be seen in most old fields and meadows here.

Iran war not going to end well....

Posted By David Cotterell

Excellent summary of where things will go by US Senator Chris Murphy.  He posted all this on Bluesky which I have copy/pasted here.

"It’s crystal clear now that Trump has lost control of this war. He badly misjudged Iran’s ability to retaliate. The region is on fire.

1/ I’m going to explain to you in this what I’ve learned - in part from closed door briefings - about the biggest current crises.

2/ Trump believed Iran would not close the Strait of Hormuz. He was wrong. And now oil prices are spiking.
If the Strait stays closed, a global recession will result. It actually may already be too late. Gas prices are the first to spike, but food prices are next.

3/ Right now, Trump has no plan to reopen the Strait. And a plan may not exist.
The assets Iran uses to harass and attack tankers - thousands of small drones, speed boats and mines - cannot be eliminated. They are too numerous, too spread out and hidden.

4/ What about naval escorts for tankers? This is a possibility, but it’s harder than you think.
First, it would require our entire navy. 100 tankers need escorting each day.
Second, if we can’t destroy the mines and drones, our ships are at risk too.

5/  We can destroy Iran’s missiles but not all their drones, and war today is drone war.
Iran can hit oil sites in the region indefinitely because they posses so many cheap, weaponized drones.
And they are. They blew up a critical Oman oil depot two days ago.

6/ If Trump paid any attention to the Ukraine War he would have noticed how warfare has changed. But he didn’t. And he blundered.
Worse, the Gulf states are running out of interceptors to stop Iranian missiles and drones - meaning that soon more oil sites will be vulnerable.

7/  A broader, regional war is breaking out as Iranian proxies in Lebanon hit Israel and those in Iraq target the U.S.. Israel is now threatening a massive ground invasion of Lebanon, which could become its own new crisis.

8/ Other potential flash points lurk. So far, the Houthis in Yemen have been relatively quiet. Probably not for long. They can project power into the Red Sea.
For Syria, this is the worst time for Trump to strike Iran. Syria could explode again.

9/  Trump has no endgame. Iran and its proxies can create chaos indefinitely.
So what’s next? A ground invasion? This would be Armageddon. Thousands of dead Americans.
Declare false victory? Then the new Iranian hardliners in charge just rebuild what we destroyed.

10/ All of this was totally foreseeable. Frankly, it’s why previous presidents weren’t so stupid to start a war like this.
Trump has lost control of the war. His best course now is to cut his losses and end it. That’s the only way to prevent an even bigger disaster.

What do you all think?

How to do gun control.......

Posted By David Cotterell

Drivers license, REAL-ID, not good enough to get a gun.

Have to go in person with Passport and Birth Certificate to register to get a gun.

If your name isn't an exact match on ALL your I.D. (maiden name, middle name, initial) you can't get a gun.

Federal government keeps a National Gun Registry - every state must send the personal data of every gun owner.

Government purges permitted gun owners list regularly due to its large error rate.

If you are purged in error you have to go back, in person, with all your I.D. and register again.

That ought to keep gun ownership under control...

Oh, wait, the rules above are not for guns, they are for VOTING registration.   My bad.   Carry on.  Nothing to see here.

Driver's license or Real ID not sufficient ID. Folks without a birth certificate...

Millions of Americans don't have a passport.

This bill has been  written to disenfranchise a large number of voters who are  statistically much more likely to be Democrat voters.  The poor, people of colour and women.

The R's see November as a win-at-any-cost election. They are doing what they can to tilt the result their way.  AT.  ANY.  COST.  They are way past giving any fucks about legality.  It is illegal to put troops/ICE/cops near polling stations on an election day.  But they will be there in selected, closely contested districts.  Just like it is illegal to drag a hispanic woman from her home without a judicial warrant or use a 5-year old kid to lure people out of a house.  But they do it anyway with complete immunity.

James are you prepared to predict that if this SAVE act passes into law the mid-terms will be a fairly contested election with every US citizen  who wants to vote allowed vote?

SAVE disenfranchisement of millions
