Idiot in Office

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

A quick search revealed this from the "ignorant idiot" dated the day this Astromart message was posted.

Might be wishful thinking on my part but ad hominem attacks have no place in these forums.

Climategate: Still Bogus Nonsense

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

Just surfing the NSF site and came across this gem from Mann.

http://www.nsf.gov/news/news_summ.jsp?cntn_id=115424&org=NSF

"According to a paper published in the August 13 (2009) issue of Nature, the frequency and strength of these powerful storms has grown in recent decades.

"We are at levels now that are about as high as anything we have seen in the past 1,000 years," said Michael Mann, director of the Earth System Science Center at Pennsylvania State University and the lead author of the paper."

If he can't be pinned down on fraud (Cuccinelli isn't finished with him yet), there is evidence he is clueless on real science.

For reference, see this recent post from Dave Snope.

Risks of Sea Level Rise

Looks like a photoshopped image to me. The house reflections near the house are OK, but what are the reflections closer to the camera? More smoke and mirrors. On another note, about 1% of the US population is at risk if the full 1 meter rise comes true. Much cheaper to move them than spend 100's of billions annually to reduce CO2. My unwashed opinion of course.

Sea Level Rise

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

Using the data source, shows sea levels in general have slowed and stopped rising since 2006.

Nothing to see here related to the panic around sea level rising and we're all going to die - time to move on to another manufactured crisis.

I know what the skeptics will say, but for the rest...

Some sea temps are higher and some are lower. Looks like nature doing its thing to me.

Excellent - one of the benefits of the warming seen since the last ice age --woohoo!

And not a word on the massive Arctic storm the 1st week of August that broke up 500,000 sq. Kms of ice contributing to a low ice extent for 2012.

Zurich Insurance

This article might carry some weight if the invested "green" projects weren't supported by government dollars, or prefered electricity rates which are funded by the taxpayer.
No way any of the windmill or solar cell projects in my geography would survive or be built if they had standard hydro or nuclear $/KwH funding. They need rates that are 3 to 10 times the going rate in order to be justified.

Global Impact of GW

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

Quoted from the article

• The frequency of drought may increase by more than 20 per cent in some regions.

• Without a reduction in global greenhouse-gas emissions, 40 per cent more people are likely to be at risk of absolute water scarcity.

• Increases in river flooding are expected in more than half of the areas investigated.

• Adverse climate change impacts can combine to create global 'hotspots' of climate change impacts.

I highlighted the "weasel words"

I expect to win the next billion dollar lottery as well.
