1200 mount in Antarctica

Rolando,

I don't know which is most disgusting .... seeing such premium equipment exposed to such extreme elements and adverse conditions or that graph and the + 0.2" ... 8O

Any problems dealing with Meade/Coronado?

Posted By Anthony Ayiomamitis

Tom,

I had my local dealer return a "rusted" BF10 to Meade-Europe and it was completely replaced with a new unit in the space of a three weeks.

My situation in Europe may (?) be different.

$.26

Today it opened at 22 cents ... as to how low it can go, well it may not matter since the exchange is after them surrounding their penny stock status and which must be rectified if they are to remain listed.

As an aside, I wonder if we will see a devaluation of the US dollar. For many years I have heard how overvalued the USD is/was and in spite of its weakness the past few years.

For better or worse, we are all privy right now to historic times.

M13 unguided image at 3810mm FL

Posted By Anthony Ayiomamitis

Roland Christen said:These are unguided images taken on the 3600 mount. Total LRGB times are 6.7 minutes (400 seconds) for L and for each color. Focal length is 3810mm, 0.49 arc sec per pixel, STL11K.

I was testing the tracking accuracy (unguided and no PEM) of the 3600 mount...
This is impressive!

Telescopes for sale

Posted By Anthony Ayiomamitis

With their asking prices, the listings should be active for some time.

It is one thing paying a premium for a late production run scope and something else for a unit which is 10+ years old.

I will gut it out and wait for my AP130 and/or AP140 when Santa calls .... and at a more reasonable price.

Question about today's Image Of the Day

Posted By Anthony Ayiomamitis

Medusa Nebula as mentioned ... and also cross-tabulated as Sh2-274 (and not Sh2-118).

Best Digital SLR for AP

Posted By Anthony Ayiomamitis

I am not sure one can answer which is "best" but I have gotten serious mileage and quality from my EOS 300D and 350D. The former provides me with an image scale of 1.27"/pixel when used with my AP160 whereas the second comes in at 1.10"/pixel - the respective pixel sizes are 7.4 and 6,4 microns.

The Canon EOS series has a tremendous lead when it comes to astrophotography based on the shear number of imagers who use them.

One advantage the digital Nikons have is the high burst rate and which pales the Canon EOS burst rate. The latest version of the EOS 5D announced very recently has made serious progress in this regard.

Big One - first 6 months

Rolando,

Looks like a scene out of Terminator or something similar. smile

Just looking at that load makes my hair stand on end. Any idea what it is and how heavy it is?

Is that wrapping I see around the pole near the ground?
