I read it, and it was interesting.  Unfortunately, what you write will always be meaningless to Richard unless it appears in some far right-wing opinion piece.

The prosecution of Trump appears so far to be legally brought, reasonably supported by the law, in accordance with due process, and all the stuff I've been arguing all day.  But it is clearly a discretionary prosecution and it is stretching the boundaries of what has gone before.  By discretionary prosecution, I mean that it is the result of an investigation and grand jury process controlled by Smith.  Seldom used and even archaic laws are being applied.  It is not like Trump was witnessed by dozens shooting a man dead in broad daylight and then brought into jail by the cops, or some other sort of crime where prosecution is not discretionary as a practical matter.

I'd buy the argument that this is all largely Trump's fault.  Still, it is not credible to deny there are politics at play in Garland and Smith's prosecution decisions.  I don't agree with Greg that this is entirely political, but that is a long way from denying that it is at least in part political.

Jim
To what end, though?  Certainly not to benefit Biden.  Trump is probably the only GOP candidate that Biden can beat in a presidential election.  If I were Biden and wanted to play politics, I'd want to discourage Trump's prosecution in the hopes that he becomes the GOP nominee. I don't see how this prosecution benefits democrats. If anything, it benefits the other GOP candidates for the nomination.

These guys better hope Jesus doesn't decide now it the time to come back, I think he'd be more pissed than when he was at the temple kicking out the money changers, another thing today's GOP would probably be against. The image makes me sick to think there are people who think this way. If they move away from Jesus I would think he'd be more pleased with those that remain and follow his words. If there is any justice at all I hope the artist and anyone who buys a print or made a profit from it is going to pay for it in the end. I can't say how I really feel as I'd then need to go to confession. Damn, now I thought it so have to go anyways, but I'll still hold my tongue.

LOL. I think that picture is hilarious. On par with those superhero trading cards. As a patriotic American, I find Trump and his followers really embarrassing.

I'm not sure what you mean here. If Trump is prosecuted and found guilty of a felony (assuming it happens before the election), he won't be the GOP nominee. So of course it helps the other potential (GOP) candidates.

Did anyone else notice the smirk on Jesus's face?  It gives me the impression that he's about to strangle him.

How Donald Trump tried to undo his loss in Georgia in 2020
Exactly.  Good to see that these people are wasting time and money on this crap instead of actually doing their jobs.  Do they think us citizens are not paying attention?

They are accomplishing one thing, though. They're creating more people like me - FORMER REPUBLICANS.

Since no movement in Trump's polling, or his rival's polling, has occured after the indictments then:  (A) The people being polled don't know about the indictments (seems unlikely), or (B) The people being polled don't support Trump any less after indictments, or (C) the polling sucks.   Jim
Gotcha!

I was a republican for a long time, actually!  Anyway, thanks for the kind words.  It kinda balances out the screamer's constant negativity and anger.

Well, that's the most interesting post I've seen here in days.  That tree isn't at your place here in SoCal, is it? I don't think I've ever seen one around here.
