4" APO

Does anyone know when production begins or the 4" APO? I've been on that list for a while.
Jack,

There was a comment by Rolando recently on the AP Yahoo group that the Traveler is basically history. He also said there is a rich supply of available alternatives currently on the market.

I am also on the same list but we are SOL. sad

I also have a similar problem/dilemma surrounding the 4" aperture. I have a Tak FSQ which has sweet optics but the very fine focusing is a real bitch. Hopefully the use of an STL11000XM (when the new version comes out) will address my needs in combination with my AP160.

I just received a 2nd hand AP140 from a recent Astromart Auction.

I took it to my dark site straight away and had a couple of nights of clear weather.

Here are the images so far:

Greg,

All three images are very fine results. Good work!

This scope is incredibly sharp and sharper than anything I've used before.
This was my immediate observation as well when my AP160 arrived about two years ago. Killer optics and snap focus.

Also incredibly well made and substantial. You can tell its the culmination of years of experience.
Again, my immediate observation as well during the first night out with my AP160.

Thanks to Roland for making such a masterpiece.
Rolando has the ideal recipe and it shows!

Enjoy the new toy!!!!

I just got an email from UPS shipping information received! 54lb package arriving Wednesday! I wonder what it could be?......
I'll give you 140 guesses!
Thanks, in advance, Roland, Marge and Co.!
Pictures upon arrival! smile
Congrats!

My only problem is the 54 lbs ... perhaps a mistake was made and there are TWO 140's included. I would be happy to purchase the extra and superfluous unit. grin

the ad on A-Mart today under refractors? I think it was 4 or 5 scopes ranging from 206 down to a 130. All yours for $110k. Seller didn't want to split them up. The ad disappeared so fast I'm wondering about what I've been smoking.
It was all the way down to a Traveler ... a really neat collection of exceptional scopes!

Joe,

Can I please trouble for some details as to how you mated the ST-2000XM to the lens? I also have an ST-2000XM with CFW10 and I would love to do something similar with my Canon FD and EOS lenses.

Thanks and nice image!

Barnard 92 and 93

Hi Jim,

Very nice work as always! Not only do I love these dark nebulae but I have a problem with my southern sky (light pollution from a highway a few km away) which makes them even more precious.

Keep'em coming.

The 1st of August 2008 solar eclipse

Posted By Anthony Ayiomamitis

Inge,

I learned a few minutes ago that the Russians will be charging duties and taxes on all equipment coming into the country. I was planning to go "loaded" so as to image the eclipse and I am now trying to find ways to cut-back.

Just some friendly advice which may, in part, answer your question.

Siberian delights .... photos

Thanks to everyone for the warm reception.

Next year we have the eclipse of the century with 6+ minutes of totality and, perhaps, many friends here will be able to make it.
