Open cluster in Lyra

NGC 6791 TEC 140 with AP 0.67 reducer. Atik 16 HR with CLS filter. 40 x 3 min subs

When I try stretching it harder it just loses that delicate appeal.

Thanks for looking,

David

Urban M51 with color!

Posted By David Tasch

I finally decided to shed the loser limp of 'too much light pollution...I'll just get frusrated'. So here's my attempt at color. Of course this object is nice and bright and lends itself well to color but nonetheless it got me excited to try more color work.

Hope you enjoy,

David

***WARNING: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME WITH YOUR REFLECTOR. SERIOUS DIFFRACTION SPIKES MAY OCCUR***

I thought I would stir it up a bit. Here's 225 minutes with a CLS filter. TEC140@F7. Atik16HR. Losmandy G11.

I'll try for some color data tonight.

Playfully yours,

David

Urban Flower Power

M63, the Sunflower Galaxy. Approximately 3 hours of L (bin1x1) and 1 hour each of R,G and B (bin2x2). 3 and 4 min subs. CLS filter. TEC140 @ F7. Losmandy G11. Atik16HR.

We are in the middle of a severe drought and scorching heat wave...it has made for some great skies despite my urban location.

Enjoy,

David

"no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should"

Posted By David Tasch

I know it's not good for your 'ki' to revel in another person's misery but it sure seems right when one of these bastards goes down in flames.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/10/us/10brfs-LAWMAKERQUIT_BRF.html

Thoughts and energy better spent:

"Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love – for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment is it perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you from misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world."

Hope you like,

Cocoon @ 980mm/F7

Posted By David Tasch

Here's 50 min L (5x10min)and 30 min each RGB (6x5min) with the Atik16HR. TEC140 swinging on a Mach1GTO. Guided and acquired with AstroArt 4.0. I used Noel's PS actions to clean up color blotches.

I acquired more L data but the FWHM grew large as I slept. shocked

Comments appreciated.

Thanks,
David

Same set up as the Cocoon. Here I used 90 min of L and 30 min RGB each.

I like the Cocoon better myself.

Comments appreciated.

Thanks,

David
