Fisrt Light Test of the AT65EDQ

Subject: First Light Test Results AT65EDQ

Hi Guys

Well I'm back from a dark site with my first test results of the AT65EDQ!

The test subject was a large emission nebula in the southern constellation of Carina called Eta Carina or, NGC 3372 If you would prefer.

To be fare to the little scope I'll be doing more test on It with better polar alignment because field rotation crept in on this night and because I needed to use and extender, I fear that the ccd chip wasn't quite flat to the plain....focus also a touch soft.

I want to also star test It to see how good the correction in the glass is,the collimation is and also If It has any(dare I say It)astigmatism which would be a real bummer.

Exposures were 10 minutes x 16 and flats,bias and bad pixel map were applied,pre processing done in AA4,Registar and post processing in CS4.

The StarlightXpress SXVF-M25c was used to capture exposures which were guided by a FS60CB on a GPDX/Skysensor.

For those of you who are interested on how the AT65EDQ performs here is a shot of the Southern Pleiades(IC 2602).

The exposures were: 10 minutes x 15 guidded.

ST8300M & FW5

Hi guys

Anyone here using the ST8300M & FW5 filters wheel? Having trouble getting the FW5 filter wheel going with the ST8300M and was hoping someone could help out.

When I try and use a filter I get the error message"filter wheel busy" can anyone help out?

Hi Greg,plenty of detail in your image but the colour seems to be off(probably due to the Ha I think)
Anyway one thing that Warren Keller showed me was that If you only use your camera software for capture and combining your colour, then throw your image into PS and use curves to stretch It. That way you can keep a good colour balance and keep the histogram from clipping. You'll end up with a very balanced and please image for something that only had basic processing. Greg If you havent seen It already go to Warren Kellers
web site and check out the PS tutorials.
