Hi Emanuel,
I also have the MK66 on a CG-5. If the cool doown time and somewhat narrow field of view does not bother you I suggest you hang on to the Intes MK66. Getting a noticable better performance I think, not sure though, you have to move up to a 6" apo.
All I can refer to is my 8"f/6 Orion Optics UK Newton and that scope outperforms the MK66 on DS, planets, binaries, well everything celestial.

Anyway, Good Luck whatever you decide to do wink

Edge Masking Primary

I have masked down my 8" f/6 primary by 5mm and changed the 50mm flat to a 44m flat. I saw signs of TDE. The scope was very good but now I consider it as almost perfect wink
Next step is ordering a Howie Glatter lasercollimator so I don`t have to bother with collimating by hand under the stars. This was an advice from my fellow Swede collimation guru Nils-Olof Carlin.
BTW this night I had a rather fine view of Plato and 4 distinct craterlets, also the bottom on Plato looked like a grainy sandpaper.

Planetary pair

Last Friday I saw Mercury 2 fingers at an armlengths distance from brilliant Venus . "Observation" was done from my bedroomwindow and no optical aid what-so-ever was needed. It`s always so exciting to get a glimpse of the little planet. First time I spotted it was 24/4-89 according to my log.But I have never seen it so close to Venus. My first observation of Mercury is one of my happiest memory from observing smile Never forget when I first nailed it ca 10* above the horizon (well Baltic Sea actually) with my 10X50B and 10 min. later it was obvius to my naked eye. Marvelous grin
