Saturn Finally

Wes,

At the risk of being trite and redundant, congrats on a very beautiful image!

Question for you: How about running the same AVI through Registax to see how the result differs (or is alike)? It would be nice to use this special high-quality video to do a head-to-head comparison between these two popular packages.

Daniel Sach ... for misrepresentation (ad #212562)

Posted By Anthony Ayiomamitis

Dear fellow Astromarters,

If you ever see an ad from this fellow, you may wish to reconsider about dealing with this corrupt individual. He misrepresents his items for sale so as to procure a higher than normal price and deletes the ad once he has received payment. Not to mention that he unregisters himself to remove all further trace.

Of course, he also ignores all email and requests to undo his dirty work.

It is a shame there is a lemon in every crowd. Having dealt with many other fellow amateurs during the past few years on Astromart, Daniel Sach thought it was time for me to have my first bad experience.

Paul,

Thanks for the pix. Was Uncle Bill there? I do not see him in either photo.

Roland,

For some of the stars, I see a brighter and smaller white circle off to one side. Is it just me or have others noticed it as well? What's the cause?

Robert,

This is excellent work! I have access to mag 6.5+ skies and will be trying something similar as early as next month, for I have a special interest in the Barnard dark nebulae.

Clear skies!

AP 9" Folded Apochromatic Refractor for sale on cl

Posted By Anthony Ayiomamitis

With that amount of money, I would rather pick up 20" of aperture (ie. OGS RC 20"). This is not to say that I have something against AP refractors since I have (and love/cherish) my AP160 with AP1200GTO GEM.

A mount on steroids!

Posted By Anthony Ayiomamitis

Part Deux: Okay, so the result at Dec=0 was a big fluke. Let's try our luck due east and, more specifically, with the scope pointing at 30 degrees and go for another six cycles of the worm gear.

Well, lightning strikes twice, for we have a NET error after 38 minutes of operation of 0.51" in RA and 1.44" in Dec.

This is the kind of performance that is beyond description and must be seen live in order to be really appreciated.

At the risk of stating the obvious, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE no requests or offers for purchase. This baby ain't going anywhere, steroid druggie or not. grin

10" AP Mak-Cass - Original Price??

Posted By Anthony Ayiomamitis

Michael,

This is a topic which came up recently on the Yahoo AP user group and the comment was made that the initial price was $9,800 and which was later increased to $10,800. I am going by shear memory, so I may be off.

Rolando,

Excellent result. A lot of fine and delicate structure.
