Great Observing Site Outside Toronto

Posted By Darren Crooks

Wow, thanks for the post, Ryan! As you may determine by reading my post below, I'm suffering from a severe lack of dark sky. You may see me there in the near future.

Clear nights ... dark sites,

Wow

Tough break, Ivan. The observing weather seems to be pretty awful all over. I'm lucky to get three nights a month, and two of them are usually when the moon is almost full.

Last month I was observing at our club's dark site, about a 45 min. drive from my home. Conditions were superb for a while, and then the fog rolled in. We tried to wait it out, but after an hour of continually worsening conditions, we packed up and headed home. I was not on the highway for ten minutes when the fog completely cleared and the skies were as dark as I'd ever seen them.

Clear nights to us all,
Darren

Your hard work certainly paid foo, Jose. That has to be one of the best-resolved and prettiest images of M13 I've ever seen. Beautiful. Thanks.

Record Set for Messier Marathon?

Posted By Darren Crooks

Alan, I can answer your question:

The longest record for a Messier list is held by Charles Messier.

And it took him a lifetime.
