Obama wins FLA!

4 days later and he is still whipping on Romney. An electoral college landslide that the Republicans never saw coming - except for Rove and he only made one mistake: who would get that landslide.

Syrian conflict spreading

Spilling over into Turkey and now Israel - which will not tolerate this and will retaliate. Anyone see an escalation and a big conflict coming up? Maybe Iran will be involved and we can finally hash it out.

Impossible

The US and the world are asked to support a Palestinian state who not only not recognizes the right of Israel to exist but actively tries to undermine and destroy Israel?? It will be impossible for both to coexist and given the history not very likely. We know whose side Egypt is on and with more theocratic Muslim neighbors, and Iran, things don't look rosy for Israel. At least the US is backing Israel.

This editorial is worthy of discussion, IMO, and makes good points for both sides.

War on Christmas?

Posted By Jim Johnson
http://www.dailykos.com/#

Is there really a war on Christmas as Robertson states in the video? I know that some merchants and stores downplay the christian aspects of xmas so as not to offend potential customers - a pure business decision. There are the yearly fights over xmas displays on public property - a separation of church and state that some fanatics want to enforce. I do know the atheist group from Wisconsin is making trouble all over the country. But other than these things is there really a war?

You can't lump atheists into a single group. The majority are live and let live but as with any group there are the evangelizers who want to enforce their beliefs on others and mock other's beliefs.

Democracy? We don't need no stinking democracy

More proof that extreme Islamists can't get along with any other group, foreign or domestic. They are 110% intractable. A boil on the butt of humanity that is rapidly coming to a head.

*edited*

BTW, who does Mursi think he is grabbing all those powers...Obama? wink

I'm guessing she's a Republican if the statement echoes her beliefs. The Democrats are still ahead in inappropiate political behavior from teachers, though. I would guess there are more liberal teachers than conservatives.

A dubious distinction

http://www.religionnews.com/faith/leaders-and-institutions/u.s.-dominates-list-of-worlds-500-most-influential-muslims

There are two Americans in the top 50. One is from Iran and the other is a homegrown (white, aka Mark Hanson) Muslim hailing from Walla Walla, Washington. We have 41 who made the top 500 - pretty good (or bad) since we only have 2.6 million Muslims...

...so far. I would expect the numbers to grow as our freedom of religion and speech will draw moderate Muslims who wish to escape the hellish theocracies being born in North Africa and the Middle East.

Mormons are also making big gains. Doesn't look too good for the home team.
