Ironic that he's against it. Recently that's exactly how he voted in the Florida primary.
I guess it's a case of don't do what I do, do what I say.
This story has gotten more interesting since Twitter fact-checked Trump's tweet about mail-in voting being rife with fraud. That fact-check then triggered Trump to issue an executive order that is unenforceable. Yesterday he even threatened to close down Twitter. The man is so petty, and he can never accept that he is wrong about anything. It would be funny to see Trump get into a legal tiff with Twitter. It's one thing to spread horrific lies and slander about a man's dead wife who does not have the resources or power to fight back; it's a whole different set of circumstances to take on a giant like Twitter.
In response to Trump's misleading tweets, Ellen Weintraub, the FEC commissioner in a 60-tweet thread, cited a range of facts that show that mail-in voting does not lead to large-scale fraud. Not only is mail-in voting rarely defrauded, it turns out that Trump and Melania did it, and Kellyanne Conway also did it. Even Trump's press secretary Kaleigh McEnany did it eleven times. Further, five states hold elections almost entirely by mail, and 33 other states allow the option. Even Trump's blue-ribbon committee to investigate voter fraud after the 2016 election, had to be disbanded because it could not find substantial voter fraud anywhere. Why was the committee even formed? Because he could not accept that he lost the popular vote by one of the most significant margins in history. This character flaw is probably the same reason he insists he is taking hydroxychloroquine; Trump simply is incapable of admitting he is wrong.
