Re: Another milestone in Iraq

It's interesting how Bush was once chastized by the left for being too Reagan-like, now it seems he can't hold a candle to the former president.

Safe Harbor???

In addition to the comments stated above, of which I largely agree, religeous institutions would be wise to refrain from such practice. Large scale backing of political parties or movements, especially in the form of block votes, has done little more than bring large scale resentment to such organizations. For example, in the early 19th century, much of the persecution the LDS church saw was due, to a large degree, to the resentment of that practice.

Assuming the intent is to foster laws which favor the beliefs of the religeous institutions, I believe these institutions are attacking the bull from the wrong end. Laws of the state are, at best, a poor substitute for moral character. If a church wanted to see a certain public official elected, or a certain law passed, then it is up to that church to persuade its congregation to vote or donate accordingly.

I didn't necessarily agree with all of Reagan's policies, but I did agree with most of them.

I'm curious, to those who do not believe he was a great man or a great president, whom would you regard as such? By what standards would you judge such a person? Even George Washington and Thomas Jefferson owned slaves.

I had the misfortune of actively participating in that madness called the Cold War. For his part in ending it, I will always hold Ronald Reagan in the highest regard.

Partial Birth Abortion

Thanks Jim.
I read both articles, but neither one seems to address the social issues around this procedure. One side would tend to imply that the procedure is performed only when it is medically neccesary. The other side disputes this, claiming that it's performed on perfectly healthy women and fetuses. If this were the case, then I would like to see some analysis of the reasons why a woman would choose such a procedure on a baby she has carried for two full trimesters.

I have to say that the pro-life side seems to call on the unpleasant visual affect of this procedure as an argument against it. If we used that type of logic across the board, we would all die of tonselitis, or or something as minor before our time.

Go for it Jim!
I don't agree with your views, but I'm glad you are willing to act on them.

The report is from Britain's "Liberal Democrats". Would you expect any other type of report from this group?

Sadly, I have to concur with Joe. I've been reading over the posts of the last couple of weeks. The quality of dialog has dropped significantly. Trolling and non-logic seem to prevail. I too, will need to find another forum in which to roost.
Adios!
