I tried, I really did!

I tried to watch the debates but my wonderful wife fixed such a terrific dinner I was afraid I was going to loose the whole thing. Ten minutes into the mess I turned it off again!

Tribal wisdom of the Dakota Indians, passed on from generation to generation, says that, “When you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount.”

However, in government, civic and charitable groups, education, unions, and corporations more advanced strategies are often employed, such as:

1. Buying a stronger whip.

2. Changing riders.

3. Appointing a committee to study the horse.

4. Arranging to visit other countries to see how other cultures ride horses.

5. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.

6. Reclassifying the dead horse as living-impaired.

7. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse.

8. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed.

9. Providing additional funding and/or training to increase dead horse’s performance.

10. Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse’s performance.

11. Declaring that as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overhead and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line of the economy than do some other horses.

12. Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses.

13. Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position.

How many caught Bill Moyers NOW Friday night?

Libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik, when asked about social security, which he is against, felt that charity will take care of those old folks who can't make it on their own.

He feels that government is robbing the people to pay for social security. Wow, what a great guy.

I've been paying into SS since I was 13. I don't know what he expects me to do now. Just forget it?

Talk about conservative, he's slightly to the right of Attila the Hun. He makes hsuB look like a Communist liberal!

Electric focuser

I've not been too pleased with the electric focuser supplied with the Meade 10" LX200 GPS. The range of focus is rather limited.

Has anyone tried something else and how did it work.

I was listening to the Dianne Reams show on PBS this morning. The topic was on the flu vaccine shortage.

Doesn't this sound a little like "Atlas Shrugged"?

Granted in the book Rand talked about steel but isn't it the same thing. Poor planning, no follow through, inept management, government that doesn't care?

Where are we headed guys/gals?
