I have one on a T-Scope and am very pleased with it. It is very smooth and easy to fine-focus. I'm not sure it would do well with heavy optical trains but for single EPs or EP with a barlow it has worked very well for me.

My 9-year old daughter has an Orion XT6 which seems a perfect match in terms of size. She can carry the OTA without trouble. The XT6 matched with a good zoom EP doesn't require a whole lot of fuss and seems to keep her very happy. The downside is that she does require help with the collimation.
