You are missing the critical point. All of our laws regarding gay marriage and all of the court cases requiring gay marriage concern civil marriage granted under the laws of a state. The Equal Protection Clause, in my view and in the view of most courts, prohibits discrimination in the civil marriage laws based upon orientation. Obviously, each state can also pass laws directly sanctioning civil marriage between gays as the voters of those states see fit. Your own narrow and suspect theological viewpoint should not be considered by the Courts or the Legislatures. It is a shame that Maurice (an Aussie) has to explain these simple concepts to you.
On the other hand, the Establishment and Free Exercise clauses assure that nothing the Supreme Court does and no state statute can force your church to grant gays sacramental marriage. I'm assuming that wholehearted endorsement of discrimination against gays is how your church interprets scripture, and I am very saddened to say that this is how my church interprets scripture, for now at least. Until that ancient prejudice is rectified, churches are free to discriminate in the dispensation of sacramental marriage as they see fit.

I was off backpacking with a boy scout group this weekend. We had a great time, and did not miss being away from the media one bit.
However... I was very pleased this morning to see that Floyd won the Tour de France in what has to be one of the greatest comebacks ever, and that a very emotional Tiger handily won the British Open.
These are good human victories.

When I look in my crystal ball I see Denver beating Cincy and SF (both games are at home). That should secure for Denver the 1st AFC wildcard seed and a trip back to Foxborough where the Broncos have been dominant in recent memory. Are you ready to rumble Steve-o?

Indianapolis seems to me to be playing with strong purpose. (Like the Steelers of just last year) Indy has the look of a team that will not be beaten this time. their defense is really clicking, it is amazing what the return (or loss) of one key defensive star will do to a team in the modern NFL. It is fitting that they get another crack at the Patriots. I expect them to win this time.
