On the merits, I don't think the hard-core Trump base are gullible fools, or morons as you mentioned yesterday.  (Yes, there are plenty of stupid people out there, but no political faction has a lock on them).  The hard core Trump base believes the institutions of the nation are irredeemably corrupt and hopelessly biased.  They are tired of being mocked and belittled.  So, in my opinion, the hard core Trump base will latch on to anyone who is willing to sling mud at the establishment and tear down establishment institutions.  Trump is their gladiator, profound flaws and all.  That said, the Trumpsters I know do not admire him personally.

As an aside, and unfortunately, I think that the overwhelming resentment driving Trumpism is somewhat understandable.  We are a very polarized and angry nation.

Our nation needs an inspired and inspiring leader to start the healing.

Jim
Sorry, but it's hard to listen to Trump for 5 minutes and not think anyone who's a fan (and there are a lot of them) isn't an idiot.

It depends how bad my other choices are. I guess that's not much of an endorsement. By the way, I've been an R voter for most of my life (until recently).  The direction the R party has taken in the last few years now has me voting against every R in every race I vote in. I'll continue to do that until every trace of book-banning, anti-science, creationist-pushing MAGA idiocy is erased from the party.

No one replied to my thread about Joe O'Dea, too local and too dry I guess.  But O'Dea went head to head against MAGA nation in an unholy alliance with monied Democrats and won.  This is how the GOP rehabilitates itself.  Jim
Man, I hope you are right.  There's nothing I'd like more in this world than a tough choice between two good candidates - D & R.

Interestingly, a lot of people I work with feel exactly as I do, and I work in an industry that is arguably one of the most conservative out there (DoD); this is mostly due to Trump - he is loathed. This is a small sample size, and I don't know how this translates to the population at large, but it does represent a huge shift in attitude among a group of traditional Rs.

I wonder what the odds are that the Rs would actually nominate that clown again?

That is my hope.

The New Gestapo...

The man did not sustain any injuries, but did try to sue Houck.

Certainly deserved this kind of approach by the Federal Bureau of Investigation:

On Friday morning, Houck’s rural home was raided by 25 to 30 armed FBI agents, who pounded on the door and yelled at the family to open it, his wife said.

Then again I suppose they could have simply called out the National Guard as they did in Martha's Vineyard and had 125 Military Personnel show up at his house with Grenade Launchers and a couple of M1A1s to take this guy Houck into custody.

Hmm..... Yeah that probably would have been more appropriate because we all know that 25 to 30 SWAT FBI agents had nothing better to do than to show up at this guy's house, as if he was Al Qaeda.
Of course, that's not what happened.

Houck assaulted a 72-year-old volunteer escort at a reproductive health care clinic TWICE. In the first incident, the volunteer was attempting to escort two patients exiting the clinic, when Houck forcefully shoved the volunteer to the ground. In the second incident, the Houck verbally confronted the volunteer and forcefully shoved him to the ground in front of the Planned Parenthood center, causing injuries that required medical attention.

One thing I learned on this forum is that if you're typing, you're lying.

When this guy Mark Houck told the guy to back away from his child the purported 72 year old "victim" of assault, was reported to have said to the 12 year old "your Dad is a fag".

So Mark Houck was reported to have shoved the guy back and knocked him on his ass.

The Elderly 72 year old "victim" then decided he was going to sue Mark Houck, and the judge overseeing the trial threw the case out of court.

That's how badly injured this abortion escort worker was hurt, as the court threw out his lawsuit against Mark Houck.

So then if he required medical attention as you say, then how exactly was this person injured, since he was unsuccessful in his lawsuit against Mark Houck?

It appears then that your assertions are not founded in substance or fact.

What a shocker that is.
What reports? Let me guess - reports from one of those whack-a-doodle right-wing outrage sources you parrot all the time?

Here's your chance to justify the DOJ sending out 30 agents in 15 cars with men taking firing positions against this Pro-life speaker in the grass as was reported and men beating on the door of pro-life activist Mark Houck, with their guns drawn, and shoved in the faces of him and his wife at their home, early in the morning as if he was on the 10 most wanted list.

They went to his home as if he was Carlos the Jackal or Pablo Escobar.

You justify that, and I'll wait for your explanation.
Pretty mild compared to what you normally call me. Does this mean we're pals? LOL
