Based upon the memo and the complaint, I think it is more likely than not that Trump and Giuliani made it perfectly clear to the president of Ukraine that authorized military aid was going to be held up unless the Ukraine dug into the Biden affairs.  (I also agree with Mel that the Biden deal appears to be absolutely and brazenly corrupt, but that is not the issue here.)  Note that I think the existence of a quid pro quo shakedown is more likely than not, based upon what I have read of the released documents.  New evidence could move my opinion one way or the other.

I agree with Russ that withholding duly authorized military aid from an ally in need for political gain (assuming that is what is ultimately shown) is really bad.  I think that this is an impeachable offense, if shown.  The Federalist Papers make it clear that impeachment is a political process, not a legal process.  Jonah Goldberg noted this morning that, "If the president stood on the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office and shouted obscenities on national television while dancing in the nude, that would be impeachable but not illegal."  I agree.  I also agree with Goldberg that withholding duly authorized military aid from an ally engaged with Russia for political gain is impeachable, even if it does not prove to be illegal.

I've not lived in a cave the last three years, and I know that the left has repeatedly amplified and shouted over nothings, fabrications and echo-chamber BS to try to take down Trump.  It will not surprise me if the complaint unravels as more evidence comes to light.  I do not agree with James that DJT is categorically F'd. But is this a LOL moment?  Not to me anyway.

Should the D's rush to impeachment?  That is purely a political calculation.  I know there is 0% chance that 2/3 of the Senate convicts and removes him from office so why bother?  I suspect he'd die before he resigned.  So, the political question is how will impeachment play with the million or so persuadable voters in MI, WI, PA, and maybe OH who will decide the next election?  If the D's can really tag Trump with this one, Biden will be taken out as collateral damage.  This increases the chance of Warren grabbing those MI, WI, and PA voters and being the next president in my opinion, and that is anything but funny.

I'm genuinely interested in hearing in your own words whether you, Richard or any other steadfast Trump supporters are worried about all of this.  I don't see how you can't be worried.  I'm on record supporting Trump over Warren, even though I despise Trump, but this sort of thing causes me serious worry.  I would literally dance in the street if Trump resigned or was removed from office in time for Pence or preferably Haley to mount a campaign.

If the Dems had a decent candidate they could wait a few months and get rid of Trump. What do Dems think about reports Wall Street money will not back Warren? Dems must doubt they will replace Trump with the election.
I think all presidents have talked on the phone in a similar fashion and it is crazy that three of his conversations with leaders went to the press. It would not be wrong for him to ask about the Biden corruption in Ukraine. Ukraine says there has been no Biden investigation and they got the aid. What leader will even talk to a president if they think it will be released to the press? It also goes for conversations in this country. Presidents talk to a lot of people for advice and other topics. Now they can't. Dem partisans have stopped a president's ability to do his job.
This "whistle blower" does not meet the definition of a whistle blower with his second hand observations. It is a legal document written by the usual Dem lawyers. We should learn the facts and motivation of the "whistle blower."

Raising the security of the calls would also be a reaction to the calls with national leaders being spread over the front pages of the news. That had to be stopped. Fast.

With people in the White House trying to get his calls he would be a fool if didn't attempt to make that very difficult.

Do you think Warren would be better for our country?

Biden's denial that there is anything wrong with his son taking that job will sink him.

Biden's denial that there is anything wrong with his son taking that job will sink him. Nobody is that deaf, dumb, and blind. The pressure will increase.

He was Obama's point man for Ukraine. Terrible timing.
Also, Biden will get tripped up with remarks that he never discussed the job with his son.

The Obama W.H. and the DNC directly solicited Ukrainian officials to get involved in the 2016 campaign by asking the Ukrainian President to speak on US soil negatively about Paul Manafort, worse than the Dems allege Trump to have done.
The prosecutor that Biden got fired after saying he would withhold aid says he, "was making plans to question Hunter Biden about $3 million in fees  that Biden and his partner Archer collected from Burisma where Biden was a member of the Board of Directors.

When Trump asked, "Will you do me a favor?", it had nothing to do with Biden. The transcript shows Trump was asking Zelenski to co-operate with an official Justice Dept. investigation into the origins of the Mueller probe led by US Att. John Durham. J.D. spokesman says Durham is exploring the extent to which a number of countries played a role in the investigation directed against the Trump campaign in 2016. It is ok for Trump to ask a foreign leader to co-operate with an official Justice Dept. investigation.
