Back in Denver, I went to the other extreme; all solid state with a digital crossover and one solid state amp for each of the tweeter, mid bass and bass channels. (six amp channels total, fed by a digital crossover). I built the Denver speakers/system from plans by Stewart Linkwitz, who was a legendary audio engineer. He passed a few years ago. https://www.linkwitzlab.com/LXmini/Introduction.htm
I like both systems a lot. The Linkwitz system is extremely clear and pristine. The tubes have a ton of soul. Jim
That’s awesome, and a fun hobby. Those are some strange-looking speakers! Very impressive. Brings back fond memories from college. Lab partner and I designed a pre-amp and amp that had to meet RIAA standards for +/- 1dB over 20 to 20K Hz. Much to our surprise the damned thing actually sounded pretty good. Filtering was the biggest challenge as I recall. Only cranked out about 30 W/channel, though.
