Carter: US Tortures Prisoners

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

Didn't Carter win the Nobel Peace Prize a few years ago? Obviously he has nothing to say that a military contractor or anyone in the Bush administration would want to hear.

Re: Air pollution

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

Actually, it's not entirely Bush's fault. wink

It's called outsourcing pollution or outsourcing carbon. The US is the prime mover behind the Chinese economy. We are their biggest consumer. The pollution caused by creating the goods we consume happens in China not in the US. The goods from China are cheaper, but the environmental price is higher since the pollution controls in China are almost non-existent. The Chinese generate a lot of their power from coal which is one of the worst carbon producers.

It's your fault if ship at Walmart! wink

Al Queda in Iraq apparently NOT imaginary

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

Not anymore.

Hussein kept al Qaeda under control, now radicals from all over the world are coming to Iraq to fight (and train) for al Qaeda. al Qaeda radicals could care less about the Iraqis, they have an agenda. They want to drive the infedels out of the middle east. Iran is very moderate compared to these guys.

I am not an expert in such things, but understand the concepts of quantum physics and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle.

In regard to theory and fact; using the scientific method, when does a theory become a fact? As an example, you can find articles that say that man has created global warming and it is a fact. They used to say that the earth was flat and this was a fact.

I thought that this was an interesting article which touched on just the point you make about fact and theory.
Theory becomes "fact" when the evidence supports the theory. With global warming, for instance, the bulk of the evidence points to human activity as the biggest cause of global warming.

Please note that at it's highest level physics and religon are not that far apart. "The Dancing Wu Li Masters" is an interesting book on the subject. http://quanta-gaia.org/reviews/books/wuLiMasters.html

CRYBABIES

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

I have a shotgun (preferred for urban work wink ), wore the uniform because I owed it to my country.

I don't believe in unlimited government (state or federal) and definitely don't believe in the one dollar = one vote system which our system of government has become.

I definitely don't believe that unregulated capitalism is good for the country because without regulation, greed takes over and leads to feudalism (as pointed out by someone else here on Astromart).

I believe that access to a good education at an affordable price is good for the country.

I believe that we pay more for health care and get less for our dollar than any country on the planet.

I don't believe that all Muslims are our enemy or that Islam means death for America.

I believe bigots of all faiths have killed more people than truly religious men of any faith.

Bush and Our Vets

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

This is not about torture. It's a question about responsibility. Should the government who replaced Hussein be responsible for Hussein's actions.

Obama stealing election!

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

Most Democratic condenders agreed not to campaign in Florida. As a result Clinton's name was on the ballot, but not Obama or the others.

Even Bush could win under those conditions. 8O
