The (Latest) Texas Mass Shooting

A couple of days ago a Wall Street Journal report says it was not a legal private sale. He purchased the gun from an illegal gun manufacturer. Who is correct? CNN or WSJ?

So universal background checks would not have prevented him from buying the gun. He found somebody that was illegally manufacturing guns and illegally selling them.

I have not looked it up, are most of the killings in the large cities? A NY mayor got tough and made a difference. But liberals made him stop. Said his new tough laws were not fair to minorities. So he stopped. I do not support restrictions that will make very little difference. "If it saves just one life..." does not cut it in my book.

Suicides are the largest category and the majority of the 40,000 deaths. The second category is urban violence. Since 2001, 520 died in mass shootings and at least 100,000 in urban homicides. In 2015  25% of gun homicides happened in 1,200 neighborhoods that have 1.5% of the US population.

Lighter cars are clearly more dangerous. I drive quite a bit and know driving is the biggest danger to my well being. If I could afford it no change would increase my safety as much as changing my vehicle to a ton and a half truck. Maybe 13,500 gvwr.
Adding a three hundred pound bumper with a heavy winch to the front would improve the looks, also.

BO and his team might have thought that was a losing battle and not the best use of their capital.

Jim, how much leeway should presidents have when talking to other leaders? What if Trump told the N. Korean leader, "Make an agreement, join the world of nations, trade with them and it will make you filthy rich." The guy is a bastard and should our president tell him we will make him filthy rich? What if it got him to sign a good agreement? But not planeloads of cash at night with a road map to your first nuclear weapons some years down the road.

Fox New "Reporting": Biden's Campaign Likely Ending... .

What you labeled "News" is in the opinion section and clearly labeled "Opinion" more than once. Nothing wrong with the coverage of Rep. Nunnes opinion.
All things Russia has been done. How about some coverage of Ukraine? Biden says it has been looked into. By whom? Ukraine is not eager to say there was any kind of scandal with Biden when they are trying to get money from the US.

What is wrong, however, is that it's all presented in large flashy headline-like print as if it's a factual aritcle in publication. You and I took the time to read the links and realized what they in fact report as either someone's opinion and or characterization of the facts. What I find objectionable is the aforementioned format it's presented in so that anyone who simply reads the bolded titles would think it's factual information and not someone's opinion even though a bit more closer scrutiny reveals otherwise. I think a lot of people would fall into the "read the title" category.
As far as the Biden's go in the Ukraine, I already stated the chief Ukrainian prosecutor investigated them them and found no evidence of wrongdoing. But you won't hear that on Fox...
Fair enough!

As far as the Bidens go in Ukraine, I am more skeptical than you of the prosecutor. This seems like one of those faster moving situations. Maybe we won't need to wait long for further developments.

On edit, I did see the prosecutor's finding on Fox and we will need to disagree, I think FoxNews gives a more complete picture of news topics (compared to CNN).

Is this just a way for Pelosi to release some steam to lower the pressure that is building up? Looks like just an inquiry to an inquiry. Hype.
